Forbes ranks Pullman as America’s best small city for manufacturing
Forbes has ranked Pullman as the nation’s top small city for manufacturing. The publication says Pullman has seen industrial growth replace farming as the primary driver of its economy. Pullman has 60% more industrial jobs per capita than the national average. Since 2007 Forbes reports that industrial employment in town has more than doubled to nearly 3,000. Forbes credits the manufacturing boom in Pullman to Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories. The Pullman based company designs and manufactures digital relays for the power industry worldwide. The Forbes review examined American cities with populations between 12,800 and 300,000. The article based the rankings on wages, wage growth and job creation between 2007 and last year.
